In an effort to give back to the members of the Virginia Chapter of NENA, the Executive Board has created the Virginia Chapter of NENA Professional Development Scholarship program. The program was developed to allow eligible applicants to attend any professional development course/seminar of their choice.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Applicant has not previously utilized the Professional Development Scholarship Program in the past three calendar years.
- Applicant must be a Virginia Chapter of NENA member in good standing.
- Applicant must be employed on a full-time basis by a public safety agency within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Three successful applicants we be announced at the Fall APCO/NENA/Interoperability Conference, and will receive a maximum total award of $1,000 (will not include travel or hotel cost). Courses taken must begin on January 1 or later.
The Executive Board will be offering up to three scholarships per calendar year. The Executive Board will make a formal award announcement at the Fall APCO/NENA/Interoperability Conference in Roanoke.

Submit completed applications to scholarships@virginia-nena.org, with “Professional Development Scholarship Application” as the subject line. Winners shall be announced at the Fall Conference Membership Meeting.
Additional Information
Funds will be available beginning January 1, 2023 and must be utilized by the end of the calendar year. The scholarship shall require that all awardees receive employer approval to expend funds; should an awardee not attend a course which has been paid for, the attendee’s agency shall be responsible for reimbursing the chapter directly.
